P. 51
2014 מועד דצמבר - 50 - פרק שני- אנגלית
19. The main idea of the first paragraph is that -
(1) people are not aware of the threat posed to their health by rodents
(2) rodents were more dangerous during medieval times than they are today
(3) people who live in clean, modern neighborhoods need not worry about rodent
control
(4) the most common types of rodents, including rats and mice, are often the most
dangerous
20. In lines 1-3 ("farms . . . modern neighborhoods") the author contrasts places -
(1) in which rats pose a serious threat and places in which rats do not pose a serious
danger
(2) that people associate with rats and places that people do not associate with rats
(3) where most people lived long ago and places where most people live today
(4) where rodents multiply rapidly and places where there are relatively few rodents
21. It can be inferred from the second paragraph that people may -
(1) contract a disease such as leptospirosis even without being bitten by a rat or a
mouse
(2) recover from a rodent-borne disease only if it is diagnosed and treated immediately
(3) realize that they have leptospirosis but may not realize how dangerous this disease
can be
(4) think they are suffering from influenza when they are actually suffering from a
rodent-borne disease
22. The main idea of the last paragraph is that -
(1) the threat posed by rodent-borne diseases is not necessarily related to the size of
rodent populations
(2) because rodents reproduce rapidly, it is very difficult to control their populations
(3) certain rodents, such as brown rats, are more dangerous than others because they
reproduce more rapidly
(4) thanks to improvements made in rodent control, the world's major cities will be less
rat-infested in the future
