Reading Comprehension

This part consists of two passages, each followed by several related questions. For each
question, choose the most appropriate answer based on the text.

Text I (Questions 13-17)

(1) You can catch it on your tongue or make it into a ball and throw it at a friend.
You can simply walk in it, experiencing the silence and the beautifully transformed
landscape. Snow has long been food for the soul for those who are poets at heart.
But snow, it seems, inspires scientists as well as artists. In his book The Snowflake:

(5) Winter's Secret Beauty, physicist Dr. Kenneth Libbrecht calls the snowflake "a
       temporary work of art".

Snowflakes are created when water vapor in the air freezes. Because water
molecules are similar in shape to the corners of a hexagon, the molecules cluster
together in six-sided crystals when they freeze. As more water molecules attach

(10) themselves to each crystal, a complex structure begins to build up. The wind carries the
snowflake from cloud to cloud, exposing it to a variety of climatic conditions. These
conditions, among them temperature and humidity, affect the way in which additional
water molecules attach themselves to the snowflake, and therefore determine the
snowflake's ultimate shape. Since no two crystals follow precisely the same path,

(15) it is highly unlikely that any two of them will come out looking exactly alike. "If
snowflakes are art," says Libbrecht, "then wind is the artist."
