Restatements (Questions 9-12)
This part consists of several sentences, each followed by four possible ways of restating the
main idea of that sentence in different words. For each question, choose the one restatement
which best expresses the meaning of the original sentence.
9. No star, apart from the sun, is close enough to earth to appear as anything but a tiny
point of light.
(1) Anything that is far away from the sun or earth and looks like a tiny point of light is
a star.
(2) Compared to the sun, other stars can provide earth with only a tiny amount of light.
(3) All stars – except for the sun – look like very small points of light because they are
