      Restatements (Questions 9-12)

       This part consists of several sentences, each followed by four possible ways of restating the
       main idea of that sentence in different words. For each question, choose the one restatement
       which best expresses the meaning of the original sentence.

      9. 	 Sundials were the most common timekeeping devices until the introduction of accurate

              clocks in the eighteenth century.

              (1) Using clocks or sundials was the most common way of keeping time until the
                   eighteenth century.

              (2) In the eighteenth century, clocks were generally considered to be less accurate
                   devices for keeping time than were sundials.

              (3) Although accurate clocks were invented in the eighteenth century, using sundials

              (3) There are still questions regarding the interpretation of T.S. Eliot's final poems.

      12. 	 Norwegian painters of the twentieth century excelled at murals to an extent rivalled only

              by their Mexican counterparts.
