Restatements (Questions 9-12)
This part consists of several sentences, each followed by four possible ways of restating the
main idea of that sentence in different words. For each question, choose the one restatement
which best expresses the meaning of the original sentence.
9. The Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu said, "The forms of art that are most prized are those
that can be preserved."
(1) Lao-tzu said that preserving works of art can be more difficult than creating them.
(2) Lao-tzu said that works of art can be appreciated only if they are well preserved.
