Restatements (Questions 9-12)
This part consists of several sentences, each followed by four possible ways of restating the
main idea of that sentence in different words. For each question, choose the one restatement
which best expresses the meaning of the original sentence.
9. Folksinger Pete Seeger was the son of two musicians who taught at New York's Juilliard
School.
(1) Pete Seeger studied at The Juilliard School, where his parents taught music.
(2) Pete Seeger first studied music with his parents, who were teachers at New York's
Juilliard School.
